A DRUNKEN BRAWL
VERDICT OF MANSLAUGHTER

WELLINGTON, Dec. 20
At the inquest on John Ferguson, a ship’s fireman, who died at the hospital on 'Monday last, evidence was given that on the .previous Saturday night the deceased was struck by Robert Charles Collins, a mechanical engineer, and fell heavily from the footpath to the road, never regaining consciousness. Collins said tbit Ferguson was drunk and wanted to fight, and he merely gave him “A hit of a shove.” * The jury found that death was due to fracture of the skull through falling on the roadway by reason of a blow received while in a state of intoxication. Collins will appear before the magistrate to-mor-row morning on a charge of manslaughter.
