TROUBLES ON A STEAMER.

WELLINGTON, Dec. 19

Tlie steamer Morayshire which comes from 'Liverpool, via the Cape, ■berthed, at- Wellington yesterday imorning. She had on hoard 160 seterage passengers, mainly immigrants. Of these only 36 were assisted, and some of them had capital up to £2OO. The passengers Iliad rather an unpleasant experience at 2.30 a.m. on the Bth of .December. The engines were stopped and the holes in the fracture were plugged with •wood. The ship wws hove-to for 37 hours. One of the sails was blown clean awixy, nearly carrying the second officer (Mr. Smitbers) with it. As it was he was badly knocked about but .remained on duty..
