GRAZING RUNS.

LAND OFFERED ON LEAiSE

The Lands Department is offering on lease two grazing runs of .secondclass pastoral land. Bun No. 1 comprises 3073 acres at a half yearly rental of £B6 10s, and will be officially known as “Grazing Bun 93.” It is situated on the southern face of the Tutamoe Range, at the head of the Waingaromia River, at an elevation ranging from I,ooo'ft to 3.000 ft above sea-level. All hilly pastoral bush land. Fail* to good soil, on papa formation. The locality .is thirty-one holes and a half from Tologa Bay—-twenty-five miles by the Tologa. BayTaw'harepare Road, and six miles and a half by the newly formed road, Bft wide, aiid suitable for sledging, which gives access to the northern and higher end of the run. The second run offered comprises 12,610 acres, and will be known as “Grazing Buns 89, 90 and conjointly. The half-yearly rental for the three runs is £l4B 15s. and is broken red birch country with gullies and hills. Buns 89, 90, and 91 are situated about sixty miles from Gisborne, forty miles from Te Ivaraka railway-station. Dray-road formed fifty-three miles from Gisborne, balance (seven miles) is now formed Bft wide, suitable for sledging, and will be completed early in January. Applications for the lease of these runs will o'.ose .at the local Lands Office at 4 p.m. on Friday, January Sth. and the conditions of lease are: Applicants to bo seventeen years of age and upwards. Term of lease: twenty-one years, with right of renewal! Bental to be paid in advance on Ist March and Ist September in each year. Applicants to furnish statutory declaration with applications, and, on being declared successful, deposit £1 Is (lease fee), a halfyear’s rent, and the valuation for improvements, if any. No person may hold more than one run except on the recommendation of the Land Board, and with the approval of the ■Minister cf Lands. Improvements.— Lessee- is required to improve the run within one year to the value of one year’s rental, within two years to the value of two years’ rental, and within six years to the value of four years’ rental. In addition to the foregoing, improvements are .also to be effected within six years to the value of 10s per acre for every acre of first-class land, and os per aero for every acre of second-class land. Any money paid -is valuation for improvements will ho allowed as /substantial improvements upon the land. On expiry of term of lease, lessee’s improvements will be valued and .protected. Residence must commence within three years in the case of bush-land or swamp-laml, and within one year in the case of open or partly open land, and be continuous until the expiration of the lease. Lease ■is liable to forfeiture if conditions are violated. RURAL LAND.

The Department is also offering 1970 acres of rural land on the option, ail tenure. The block is fair to good land, covered with mixed bush of tawa, pine, etc., with birch on the top of the ridges. Elevation, from I,oooft. to 2,500 ft above sea-level. Fronts Koranga and Moa-nuk Roads. Distant forty miles from To Karaka railway-station, and about sixty miles from Gisborne—fifty-three miles formed dray-road. The remaining seven miles is now being formed Sit wide, suitable for sledging, and will be completed early in January.. The terms are a lease of 25, years, with right of purchase after ten years if the conditions are fulfilled. Applications for this land also close at 4 p.m, op Friday, January ,Bth. '
