A RISING NEW ZEALAND FLOCK
Anyone who has had the privilege of attending the leading New Zealand shows during recent years could not fail to observe the rapid strides by which the Romney flock of Mr. Arthur Harding, Siberia, Ashurst, has been advancing to the front. The prizes won at shows for specimens of the flock and the esteem in which the Siberia wool is held in Bradford is the best criterion possible of the sound lines followed in the general management of the sheep. Reporting on a sample fleece from a Hock ewe with lamb at foot Mr. S. B. Hollings, the well-known Bradford wool export, states as follows, i.e.: Bradford, England, July 4, 1908. The quality shows 46’s to 48’s. Thegrowth of staple is all that could be wished for, and the condition very light. It is very sound, attractive, and such a- fleece as this is what America buys when in the market for good' medium New Zealand crossbreds. (Signed) S. B. Hollings. American buyers are, as a rule,, among the most fastidious in the trade, and as there is a heavy import -duty on all wools taken .into the United States, nothing but the very best is purchased. The wool before reported upon was dipped in Quibcll’s Powder Dip, as were also many of tlie leading-prize-winning sheep afa the principal North Island shows in 1907. r
