JUDGMENT FOR THE LAND
BOARD

DUNEDIN, Dec. 22. Mr Justice Williams, in the case Begg versus Otago Land Board, decided that the plaintiff was not entitled to a renewal of tlie ileaso of his run under section- 209 of tlio Land Act, 1885; also, that he was not entitled under section 182 of the Act of 1892. Neither the rights nor obligations,of tenants .holding land under ill© earlier Acts were affected unless there was special provision in the Act relating to the lands so held.' The obligations of tenants of small grazing runs under the two Acts were not the same. Under tli© Act of 1885 there is an obligation to reside on tlie land six years only. Under the 1892 Act residence must he continuous to the end of the term. Judgment would b© for the Board..
