EVIDENCE IN THE MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

DUNEDIN, Dee. 22

At the Police Court to-day before Mr Ixenrick, S.M., Thomas Patrick Flynn was charged with having, on February 4th, 1904, being then a. married man, gone through a form of marriage with Mary Ann Pearson Skinner, and also with having, on November 3rd, 1908, being then married, gone through a form of marriage with Isabella Grant. Chief Detective Herbert, after outlining the facts of the case, said that accused had intimated his intention of pleading guilty in the Supreme Court.

Margaret Ann Flynn gave evidence as to her marriage with the accused at Arrowtown on November Id, 1599. After living there about three years accused went to Canterbury and Dunedin in 1904. She came to Dunedin, and after a separation of about six tmonths, due to witness’ ill-health, lie lived with her.-During the separation accused said he had been hoarding somewhere. Owing to the way the accused was coming and going witness complained, and he admitted that he had married another woman. Her marriage certificate was mislaid. She said she had charged the, accused with taking it, but he- laughed at her.

Evidence as to the second marriage was given by Mary Ann Pearson Skinner, who slid that about eight months after marriage the. accused ad•mitted that he had another wife, and she ceased to cohabit with him. Jane Johnston and the Rev Mr Hewitson also gave evidence. Evidence regarding the third marriage was given by Isabella Grant, Henry Maxwell, Registrar of -Births Deaths and Marriages, and H. N. Roberts (clerk). Applications lias been made to Arrowtown for a copy of the first marriage certificate, but as it has not come to hand, accused was remanded till the 30th inst,
