SYDNEY, Dec. 23.
The body of a man was found in tho Namos river at Weewaa, with, the brake-block of a waggbn attached. There was a ghastly wound in tho bead. The body was identified as that of a travelling saddler named Johnston, who with a companion, a youth of 18, passed through Weewaa with a two-horse waggon at the end of last month. Subsequently Johnston’s companion returned alone, sold the turnout, and then disappeared. Yesterday the suspect was arrested at Pillager. In the meantime the police visited the camp, seven miles further up the river. They found a quantity of Johnston’s belongings and two beds. The leaves under the head of one were saturated with blood. A recent fresh in the river carried the body to where it was found.
