CHRISTMAS ROSES.

(By Ada Leonora Harris.) Though the summer roses, clearly, Died at least two months ago. And a few pale blossoms, merely, Hide their heads beneath the snow — There are violets a-hlowing And a-growing, so to speak, In her eyes, and roses glowing In Belinda’s dimpled cheek.

Thero are holly leaves and' berries Hanging from the panelled l wall; Mistletoe and winter cherries ’Neath the gas lamps in the hall. Though, with reason, one supposes That the wind without is bleak— It does not- effect the roses Blooming in Belinda’s cheek.

Do not listen to the patter Of the raindrops on the leaves, Or the snow—what -does it matter?— Slipping, slowly, from the eaves; But, before the season closes. Seize your chance in Christmas week, And salute the Christmas -roses, Blushing in Belinda’s cheek.
