MINERS’ INSURANCE.
ENORMOUS LIABILITY INVOLVED.

WELLINGTON, Dec. 24. The secretary of the Employers’ Federation states that the mining companies have bee-ii forced into the position they have taken over miners complaint by the enormous liability involved.' Taking the Milters’ Federation’s estimate half the men are affected. This means that the total liability the employers will have to face- is two and -a half millions. Information" has been received from the insurance companies .that they are not prepared to take the risk at any prico without examination. Neither Lament nor the mine owned;® realised what was involved until quite_ recently. The .1 after thought it simply meant a considerable increase in insurance premiums. It is quite clear that employers, however desirous they mav be to' protect workers, are simply unable to do so.
