PITTSBURG,. Dec. 23. The councillors are accused of conspiring to secure by bribery the passage of certain ordinances connected with the issue of municipal bonds. The president and cashier of the Ge-r- - Bank are implicated.
INVESTIGATIONS INSTIGATED ( BY ROOSEVELT. CITY COUNCILLORS BRIBED BY BANK. (Received Dec. 24, 11.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 24. President Ttoosevclt initiated the •investigation of the Pittsburg -scandais. The investigator of the affairs of the German National Bank discovered that 17,500 dollars had been paid to members of the Council’s finance committee to secure transference to the bank of the city’s deposits.
ONLY SIX HONEST COUNCILLORS BRIBERY EXPOSED BY FLASHLIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY. jjfc (Received Dec. 25, 9.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 23. Reuter’s Pittsburg correspondentetates that the six Councillors wanted disappeared. The chief detective, for warning them,- has been dismissed.. Witnesses testified that 60 Councillors were bribed with 4500 dollars to secure the 'authorisation of a filtration plant. One swore that councillors hinted tolhim that there were only - members who coiild 1 hot be bribed. One Councillor by a ruse received a bribe in an hotel in connection with the wood paving. A flashlight photograph was taken showing him in the act of receiving the bribe.
