AUCKLAND, Jan. 1. A conference of representatives of four coal mining companies discussed the Workers’ Compensation •Act and resolved that a'fter the -comlng into operation of the Act no person shall be employed in or about any mine owned or. worked by. such companies until such miner has been medically examined and either certified to be free from .any disease too which the Act now applies or is herenfter made to apply, or if certified be affected with any such disease, L- have entered .into a contract in W t&nus of Section 17 of the Act exempting the employer from all liability in respect of such disease/ _lt is understood that similar action he* taI ken by other coal mining companies in Auckland.
