ODDFELLOWS’ PICNIC.

A SUCCESSFUL OUTING

Kaitaratahi is a delightful spot for a picnic. The journey is easily made by train or vehicle and the* scenic beauty of the surroundings is always attractive. Kaitaratahi was chose by- the Star of Gisborne Lodge. 1.0.0. F.. for their picnic, which was held under the auspices of the Rehelodi lodge on Saturday. The special drain chartered was crowded with the! lodge, members and their friends. On: arriving iat the picnic grounds the secretaries, Bros, Robb and Swinlierton, had every convenience for the public. Milk and hot- water was provided free of charge, and lunch was partaken of. After lunch a sports’ programme was gone through. Bro. Clayton acted as starter, and Bro. E. D. Smith was judge. The various events were well contested and some of itlie .races, particularly the sack and the three-legged race's, caused a great deal of amusement. A programme of races for children was also got off. After the sports tea was served and at lialf-past o o’clock the picnickers boarded, tlie train for town.

Sack race:, Fitzgerald 1. J. Pollock 2. Sack race, ladies: Miss Jones 1, Mrs Faulkner 2. Married ladies’. race: Mrs Faulkner 1, Mrs Markey 2. Married Men’s nice: F. Gray 1, Wilson 2. Three-legged race: Neenan 1, ,o’Rourke 2. -Married Oddfellow’s race: J. Nicol 1. McPherson 2.
