The evidence showed that Casey bad for some time been. . annoyed -by the visits of Spec-k- to jus house, rightly or wrongly iormmg the opinion that as Speck w-as a married man bis attentions to accused s 16-v ear-old daughter were undesirable. Casey and others deposed- that ibe former repeatedlv warned Specie not to come to accused’s place, and that no notice was taken of these . warnings. Speck denied that such. Tv,*u*nimi had boon <2;iven, but 31r. r c. Kettle clearly intimated that, he disbelieved this. Casscy s defence was that lie-had merely fired the gun to frighten Speck. In the* end tire by consent o\ “the Irate, reduced to one of common aosi'ih. to which Casey pleaded guilty. He was’convicted of the Ices or offence and discharged.
