The Cape Times states there are distinct signs of a business revival in South Africa. GREATER SYDNEY/ SYDNEY, Jan. 7. The new Lord Mayor, outlining his policy, strongly advocates a greater Sydney and weeding out the slum areas. ENGLISH V. AMERICAN RIFLES. A sub-committee of the Rifle Association, in a report on the success of the American, team in the match fired during the visit of the fleet, consi tiers., that the American rifle has little advantage over the British. The success was chiefly due t-o the superiority of the visitors’ ammunition, which, however, was specially prepared.
HEALTH OF SCHOOL CHILDREN
The report of the medical officers who visit the public schools has been prepared. From the statistics obtained in the past year, the report shows that in general health, physique,, height and weight, the New South Wales school children compare favorably with British, 'American, and Germau children.
