A PERILOUS EXPERIENCE.
A RIVER ACCIDENT

AUCKLAND, Jan. 7. A waggon and a five-horse team, driven by Andy AVintle, got into deep water in the Waikato river at its exit from Lake Taupo, while the horses were being given a drink. Tho waggon and horses sank in twenty feet of water. AVintle and three children, who were having a ride in' the waggon, had a perilous experience. The children clutched AVintle, and drew him under the water. Two boats put off, and rescued AVintle and the children, the former being very exhausted. The loss of the team represents about £3OO to the .owners, ■Alessrs Goodson Bros.
