Our Wellington correspondent, telegraphed last night that R is already announced that the Hon. J. McGowan will get a seat in the Upper House. It is understood that Mr. C. H. Mills will also become a “Lord.” The stalf of Messrs Common, Snelton and Co. Ltd., met last evening to make a valedictory presentation to Mr J. J. Fry, who has for some years been traveller for the firm. Mr J. B. Kells, on behalf of the staff, presented Mr Fry with a case of silver, mounted pipes and a tobacco pouch, and assured the recipient of the .esteem in which he was held by all his colleagues. Mr Fry suitably responded. Mr Fry will bo succeeded by Mr H. M. Puflett.
