TO-DAY’S MATCHES
Exceptional interest attaches to the meeting of the United and Wandercricket elevens at Victoria Domain this afternoon. United have not lost a match in the Saturday competition so far, while the only defeat sustained by Wanderers was inflicted by United in the first round of fixtures. United leads for the championship with 10 points, while Wanderers are only one point behind. Both teams have large followings, and' opinions are pretty well equally divided as to which side is the stronger all round. Play starts at 2.30, and a- charge of 6d will bo made to the ground,, ladies and school children being admitted free.
The team to represent Tarulieru today in their match against To Rau at the freezing works will he picked from the following players:—Charles., Golding, Davis, Sharpies, Whitely, Hannigan, Harker, Sharp (2), Dillon, Mathieson.., Anderson, Osborne, Jennings, Mouzari.
The following will' represent United in their match against Wanderers at the Domain this afternoon: Gibson, Manning, Hallamore, Bowman, Gorman, Lang, Danicll, Whyte, Sampson, Farrell,, and Jeffrey; emergency, Brown. .
Mr W. F. Cederwell, the President of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association, has made a donation of ia cricket hat to he presented to the best all-round player oil either side in today’s fixture between United and Wanderers. There will no doubt bo keen competition for the trophy.
