LONDON, Jan. 9. The British imports for December increased by £841,000, and the exports declined by £3,340,000. Re-ex-ports increased by £1,467,000, compared with the previous December. The “Chronicle” argues that despite a shrinkage to the extent of £500,000, compared with 1907, trade is through the worst of the depression, and is now "more than holding its own. The “Times” doubts whether- there will be any material expansion in 1909. " - " The “Westminster Gazette’'declares that trade equals - that of 1906,. despite the depression, and the industrial outlook&l hopeful.
