THE MINERS’ DIFFICULTY.
THE EMPLOYERS’ VIEW.!
[Press Association.]
REEFTON, Jan. 11
The employers, informed a representative of the “Inangahuu, Times” that they were seeking further information from the Government in regard to the measures likely to be proposed. Meanwhile they had not received any communication from the Accident Department. They believed the Department could not undertake fresh risks unless approved by Or-der-in-Council. The employing companies, insured as they were in -different offices, also wanted to know if the Government would take over the special risk of disease or were the employing companies to forfeit their policies with other -insurance companies as unexpended amounts re accidents and transfer i<> the Government Department. The employers stated that one might- read clause 10 of the Act as simple, but -a Wellington lawyer conn 1 ted a to his opinion gave it in ten sheets of foolsihup. How then could ordinary employers read it? The Miners’ Union - informed the “Times” that there is no change in the position. They are simply waiting on the employers. "rhero are still -a good many men m town. The feeling . against the companies for delaying a settlement is very strong, land freely expressed.
