HIBERNIAN SOCIETY.
HALF-YEARLY MEETING
The half-yearly meeting of St. Patrick’s branch, No. 373, H.A.C.B. Society was held in the presbytery last evening, a large number of members being present. A deputation from the Friendly Societies’ Conference was received, and Bro. Lewis (Foresters) in a few well-chosen words outlined the benefits of n Friendly Societies’ dispensary. The various lodges were represented on the deputation. Father Lane, in thanking •Mr. Lewis for his lucid explanaton, said he had no fear but that la Friendly Societies’ dispensary would be a great success in Gisborne, and assured him that the Hibernians were in sympathy with the Friendly Societies of Gisborne. The election of officers took place, and resulted -as follows:—President, Bro. W. Hackett; Vice-President, Bro. F. Henderson; secretary,- Bro. .Segedin; treasurer, Bro. P. .Barry; Warden, Bro. Bradley; , Guardian, Bro. P. McConville; sick visitors, Bros. Alley and Graham. A lieariy vote of thanks was passed to tho retiring officers. Father Lane, in reply, said it had always been a pleasure for him to attend the meetings of the Lodge, and although not now in the president’s chair, he would continue to do his utmost for tho Society. He also spoke of the good work done by the secretary (Bro. M. Segedin), and. ho said tho Socety had a great deal to he thankful for in having such a p mistaking officer. Several other members also spoke of tho good work done by Bro. Segedin.
