ENTERTAINMENTS.

J. C. WILLIAMSON’S COMPANY. The box plans for the season of J. O. Williamson’s company open at Mr. Miller’s to-day. One of the most attractive musical- plays done in New Zealand for several years past is “The Bed Mill,” which will fill an engagement- at His* Majesty’s Theatre on Monday and Tuesday next under the direction of J. C. Williamson. Since its arrival at tlie Sydney Theatre Koval in July last, the play, which is by Henry Blossom and Victor Herbert, lias been playing to exceptionally good business both hi that city and in Melbourne, and in the other large cities of Australia. Moreover, it. came from America with the .reputation of having achieved the longest run (two years at tlie Knickerbocker Theatre) of anv musical piece -staged in Now York. There are many points wlierebv tho piece commands success. Tn the 'first place Air. Blossom’s musical numbers are one and all bright and'catchy'melodies. It has a plot that hears, a sentimental interest, while at the same time it affords an abundant scope for a continuous succession of laughable situations and a constant stream of smart and -snappy dialogue. Its scenic setting is n little watering place in Holland, and most picturesque are the stage appointments and scenery, setting off m excellent style tlie quaint Dutch dresses assumed Ijv tit© olmractors. X/astl> its east is throughout of exceptional strength. The chorus and orchestra will be of the high standard invariably associated with the name of -JC. Williamson, and the whole production promises to be on a very superior scale. On Tuesday *I he l.ed Mill” will be repeated, and " I InPrince of Pi Ison” will be produced on Wednesd' iy.
