He was also ordered to pay El 10s for medical expenses, and a -prohibition. order was issued by consent. FURIOUS DRIVING. John Higgins Martin pleaded guilty to a charge of furious driving on it public road. The charge was the outcome of a trotting match recently held from. iMjikaraka to the Roebuck road corner. His Worship having heard the details of the offence, said that he could not allow the road to be used as a racecourse to the danger of pedestrians. Defendant would be fined £3 with costs 11s, in default 7 days’ imprisonment. Wm. Henry Pardee was similarly charged and/having pleaded guilty, was penalised to the same extent. Addressing defendant, His Worship sa id: “Both of you men must have known you wore doing wrong to race on the" public road. Possibly you thought it would-be cheaper to run thcr risk of a fine than to hire the racecourse for the occasion.”
