The informal conference between the Prime Minister and Messrs Free (mine owners’ representative) and Pi.yoi (secretary ol the New Zealand Employers’ Federation) lias not- taken place. Mr. Free, on being interviewed, on bis arrival from Reeiton, (dated that, m far as, lie was aware, matters' were still unchanged and beyond that he could say- nothing. The Premier may remain here to attend a complimentary social to Mr. H. G. Ell. M.P., on Tuesday evening.
WESTPORT MINERS REFUSE MEDICAL EXAMINATION. WESTPORT, Jan. 17. At a meeting of the Ngakawau Union (Wostport-Stockton Company) on Saturday, it was unanimously resolved not to undergo medical examination. In doing so the meeting expressed the opinion that they weie following the view cl the. Prime Minister.
