CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION
The (Saturday championship matches were continued on the Domain on Saturday afternoon, when Wanderers and United, met for the second day’s play in their fixture. The match was in ail interesting condition when stumps were drawn on the ■previous Saturday, as United with four wickets to fall required 53 runs to avoid defeat on the first innings. With the exception of Manning (who played a fine innfngs) the remaining batsmen failed rather backy, and the innings closed for 87. Going in a second time Wanderers compiled a total of 165, land United, in their second attempt, made 35 for the loss of one wicket. The following arc the scores:— UNITED —2nd innings (continued). 55. Ait the conclusion of the cricket match between the United and 'Wanderers Clubs on Saturday afternoon last, a baillot was taken among the pilayers who took part in the match to decide the winner ol : the bat (presented by 'Mr. AV. F. Cederwall, president of the .Poverty Buy Ciickct Association, for the best all-round player in the'match. Messrs D. Barry and It. Tllielwall were appointed scrutineers. 'C. Lasker .the Wanderers’ captain, Was the popular choice, and was an easy _ first with nine votes, Gf. Glennie being second with five. iLasker scored 31 in the first innings, and 51 (not out) in the second, and also fielded well. .Lae result of the voting was received with applause. AUCKLAND MATCHES. In the .senior grade match North biiore secured a two-point win from Parnell, winning by 48 runs on, the first innings.
