RECORD SHIPMENTS FROM WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, Jan. 18

The quantity of wool sent away from New Zealand by steamers that chirred the port of* Wellington last week exceed any shipment for a corresponding period so far this season. It amounts in al)l to about 50,000 bales. This large quantity, valued at an average of about £ll per bale, equals over Qialf-ri-miUion sterling. The greater proportion of it is for the London market, the rest having been sold at the recent wool sales. The Opawa has taken the lion’s share, some 17,732 bales, of which Wellington contributed 10,244 bales. The Arawa took 10,479 bales, the Rimutaka 8663, und the friar of New Zealand about 7000 bales.
