Tlie Taranaki tennis tournament a-,' as continued •’ to-day in splendid AVoatber during the forenoon, but in the .afternoon several showers fell, interfering considerably with p*lav, and making the courts slippery. J’iu; men’s champion singles were Avon by Wilding in one uncompleted match against Barker, interrupted by weather. Tho rnou’s cbvunplon doubles foil to H. A.. Parker and H. W. B-roAvu, who beat Fisher and Wildiag, 6--S. 6—4, 9—7. Miss Nun nobly -and Wilding beat Miss .Powdrc-iill and Fisher for the combined cliampio-u doubles. The men’s handicap singles -went to L. Jennings, and tho men’s handicap doubles to Jennings and Caple. The ladies’ handicap singles were won by Miss Brewster, iviio defeated Miss Gave (Wanganui). Misses Simpson and Cave won the ladies’ handicap doiibiles. Owing to the rain it was impossible to complete the combined handicap doubles. . Other winners were : Ladies singles champion: Miss Nun nolly; ladies’ doubles champion, Mrs. Payne and Miss Nun nelly; second-grade mens singles, Frater.
