RATTLE FOR A GIRL.
TWO iMEN KILLED
After ia battle in which two men were killed, L. C. Edenfield, a prominent young man, secured possession of Miss Efflo Carter, the fifteen-year-old daughter of the wealthiestman in Coffee county (U.S.A.), hastened with her to u justice of the peace and made her his wife. Edenfield and' Miss Carter had been lovers for .some months, but her parents objected to her marriage on account of her youth. To get Miss Carter away from Edenfield and preveut the olopment, she was sent by her parents to the home of her brother, John W. Carter, at Millwood. The girl notified Edenfield of her whereabouts, and expressed willingness to elope if he would come for her. Accompanied by D. A. Wilson, Edenfield went to the homo of the girl’s brother and tried to steal her. He was discovered and <a battle occurred,' in which D. A. Wilson was killed ou right and A. J. Little, a friend of Carter, was so badly shot that he soon died. While the fight was going on Miss Carter .rushed from her brother s home to her lover. Edenfield' placed the 'girl in the carriage and hurried to tile nearest magistrate and they were quickly married. It is said that Wilson, who accompanied Edenfield to aid in stealing Miss Carter, was killed by her .brother, and that Little, who was aiding Carter, was shot by Edenfield. ‘Both, the groom and his birother-in-Law will be prosecuted for murder.
