CAPTAIN OF A CUN ADDER MARRIED TO A MILLIONAIRESS.
At Boston, U.S.A., recently a pretty ! ittle love, story of the sea reached a happy culmination. Caption J. Penticost, one of the best-known commanders in the Canard service, was married to Miss Edith Pierce, <jf.Foxfi.ekl. Mass., one of the ■wealthiest and bestknown society woman of Boston, and the owner of real estate in the city and district worth several millions of dollars. Captain Penticost, who is a handsome athletic man, 35 years of ago, met Miss Pierce, while in coiiynand or the Saxonia, and she crossed the .Atlantic several times during their courtship. The bride inherited her large fortune from her father, who is the owner of a large town house in Boston and a palatial country residence at Foxfield, Mass. Captain Penticost, like the commanders of the famous liners, Lusitania and Mauretania, Captains Prichard and Turner, began his career ns an ordinary sailor bov on a coasting schooner. He quickly secured his captain’s certificate, and took part in one of the Brazilian- revolutions, and then, came to England and served in the navy as a Royal Navy reserve, lieutenant for 1.2 monthsi Six years ago' he joined the Canard Company. He has been successively commander of the Altunin. Pavonin. Carpatliia, and Saxonia.
