THE CHERNIAVSKIS. HIS A 1 AJESTY’S TO-NIGHT. Undoubtedly one or the greatest musical events in Gisborne’s history will eventuate to-night in the appearance at His Alajesty’s Theatre oi the Mierniavskis. whose reputation the world over has grown during the last two seasons in a manner little short :>i amazing. They have recently finished a phenomenal tour of South Africa, under Air. Edward Branseombe’s direction, giving no less than 86 consecutive recitals. and such was the enthusiasm evoked all through that country that their stay had to be twice extended. Since then they have appeared in .Sydney, Alelbourue. Adelaide, and Brisbane, where their performances have been described by such papers as the Alelbourue "Age” and the "Sydney Alorniug Herald." as setting a new standard in Australian music, whilst individually the hoys iave compared to such musical giants I- Hambuurg. JC. AYilliamson as the initial production by his new dramatic company next Wednesday, 27th January, is said to be one of tin.* strongest and cleverest plays of modern times, and the formation of this combination presenting it appears to be of a more than usually satisfactory nature. To have three names such as Air. George Titheradge. Air. Henry lvolker ami Miss Ola Humphrey in the same east should ensure the success of any play. These supported by Ah*. Cyril AlacKay.. Air. Don Titheradge. Alisses .Susie and Alma A T an glum and many other artists well known in the dramatic firmament point to an exceptionally brilliant combination. "Zira,” Hie second jirodiietion of the season which will be presented on Thursday, 28th January, has been remai'kably successful throughout Australasia, and during the AYeilington season of the GomjKUiv evoked the strongest demonstrations of enthusiasm. With these magnificent plays the season should result in something like a record. "The A 7 ill-age Priest” is announced as the concluding production of the season. and the revival of this magnificent drama is sure to be heartily welcomed by the local playgoers—especially with Air. Titheradge in his unique part.

LECTURE OX ROBERT BURNS
The mere mention of the name of Scotland’s great poet Burns is always sufficient to create an enthusiasm among Scotch people which is fully appreciable by any who have read the works of that great writer. It is not often that the public have the opportunity of listening to an appreciation, of Burns delivered by one thoroughly versed in the subject. This is the. east' with Miss .lean HowiVmt. of Perth.
