ROWING.
POVERTY BAY CLUB
A ■meeting of the Committee of the Poverty Bay Roiving Club was hold last night. It was decided, to select the crews on Monday next to represent the club in the competition against the Gisborne Club for tlio Licensed Victuallers’ Shield. It was resolved to send a crew to Napier at Easter to row the annual race with the Union Rowing Club, of that town. The races for Messrs Pcacocke and Co.’s trophy are to bo commenced on the Waimata course on Thursday evening. The following was the' drawing in connection therewith: J. W. Nicolas and R. Jones, A. Kirk and F. Seymour, C. Clark and N. McLeod, 0. Winter and J. Webb, 0. Somervell and B. Lqwo, A. Pritchard a bye. Mr H. J. Pcacocke was appointed- judge, and Messrs W. Stuart and W. McDuffie starters. , It was decided that the races for Mr. P. H. Graham’s trophy (handicap single sculls) should commence in about a fortnight's' time on the Waimata course.
