ADDINGTON RAILWAY WORKSHOPS.
THU MINISTER'S REPLY TO X. E. TAYLOR. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 3. In reply to the telegram from Mr. T. E. Taylor, M.P., to tho effect that enquiry into the complaints regarding tlie methods at Addington railivay workshops to prove effective should start at tho top and ivork doivnwards, the Minister of Railways has telegraphed : ‘ [ln reply to your further telpgram re proposed enquiry at Addington, I am not aware that hundreds of men are impeached. What J do knoiv is that the smiths’ and boiler-makers’ shops liave been reported as not doing satisfactory work. A full enquiry ivill be made into the charges, ivhich must necessarily cover the ivhole question of ivorking in tlie ivorksiiops, and as the general manager is responsible for all work on tlie railivay, he,, as ivell as others, ivill h aim to explain the position, but beyond tlie administration of the ivorkshops no ]K)iver ivill be given to tlie Commissioners to investigate.—(Signed) J.
