TURANG-ANUI CLUB. At the Turangjanui Club’s green yesterday afternoon the rinks pfayc-d keen, and several good games were played. The fust round in the Colts’ Singles was completed, and a game in the Bennett Cup competition eventuated. The following are the results of the match games:— BENNETT CUP. B. Bird (2.1) beat- P. Ha-Ham (15). —On the sth head Hird was 8 to 1, hut on the 17 th head Halil am was within. 2 of his opponent, who -was 16 to 14. Hird, however, was not lo be denied, and ran out -a winner by 6 points. COLTS’ SINGLES. J. Somervell (2pts) 28 beat J. B. Ley-cion (Bpt>>) 17. —With his handicap Ley cl on was 10 to 9 on the 7th head, but thenceforth Somervell assumed the. lead,•■and"was never seriosuy troubled, winning easily by 11 points. The draw for the second round has resulted as follows: —J. Somervell (2) v. W. Hay (3); W. McPherson (5) v. iS. Skillicorn (5), Tliel-wall (10) v. F. Creamer (7). The round is to be completed by Saturday, February 20, or forfeited. GISBORNE OLI-B. The green of the Gisborne Bowling Club was in good playing order yesterday afternoon when, despite the strong counter-attraction of the races, the players of the historic game mustered in strong -force. Several enjoyable games were played, including one- in the first round of the competition for Air. J. I!. Martin's mc-dal-s for rink matches, and two in the contest for tho President’s champion cup. The results of the play were as follows: CHAMPION CUP.
