BURGLARIES IN- A UCKLAND
[Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Fob. 4. Burglars visited tho premises of Charles Shalloon, jeweller, of Victoria Street West, last night, and got away with jewellery valued at £2O. Several boarding-houses were ailso entered and various articles stolen. THE MINISTER OF JUSTICE. Dr. Findlay, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, visited 1 the Mount Eden gaol yesterday afternoon and this morning left for Pakatoa Island, the Salvation. Army Inebriates’ Homo. There- is now quite a- huge congregation of Mormons 'in Auckland, and a chapel and, a- dwelling-house have just 'been erected in Upper Queen Street iat a total cost of tlie money having (been, sent out by the authorities of t-lio church in Salt Lake City. The Mormons are holding a big conference of Maori adherents at Huntly, commencing to-morrow. FEJ.LDING RAM FAIR. FEILDING, Feb. 4. At the annual ram fair to-day 1600 rams were offered. A large nil nib oi were passed in. The highest price realised was ten guineas each toi eight of Mr. E. Short’s stud rams. IMPORTATION OF FLUID OPIUMWELLING TON, Feb. 4. A notice in to-night’s Gazette inhibits .the importation of concentrated fluid preparations of opium.
