THE DAIRY REGULATIONS.
ACTION OF FARMERS’ UNION
[Press Association.]
AUCKLAND, Fob. 5. The dairy regulations, ’ which wore introduced last session, came in for some discussion at this morning’s meeting of the Auckland Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union. The President, Colonel Alien Bell, said the majority of the farmers were in favor of dairy regulations of some kind, but ho thought the union should call together conferences of farmers to discuss the new regulations. Mr. Wilson thought the suggestion a good one. He.felt there were needs for good regulations, and if the dairymen of the Dominion could be induced to take every care they would bo able to produce butter equal to that manufactured in Denmark.
Mr. Schmidt suggested that the New Zealand Government should copy the Australian legislation on this subject. ■„
The president said that there were demands in these regulations which were unreasonable, and it seemed to him that they had been drawn up by some one lacking practical experience. So far, however, in the Waikato tlie dairy inspector bad made no unreasonable demands on tlie farmers.
It was decided to hold meetings of dairy farmers at various centres to consider the question of the new regulations.
