Several matches in connection with the men’s singles championship of the vTisborne Lawn Tennis Club were played oil the courts on Thursday at Kaiti, the results being as follows": Morgoliouth beat R, Willock, 6—o, 6—o, 6—oq W. L. Coleman beat W. Tvans, 6—3, 6 —3, 6—4; Barlow beat Cover, 6—o, S—6, 6—o; Blackburn beat A. Coleman, 6—3, 6-—2, 6—2; Sheppard beat D. Cowan. 6—4, 6 —l, 6—3. ' The. foil owing matches are to be played to-day: Burke v. E. Adair, AV. Coleman v. Sheppard, .and Blackburn v. Margoliouth. AVHATAUBOKO CLUB. In the semi-finals of the handicap combined doubles-on the Wliataupoko Lawn Tennis Club’s courts, Mr. Mann and Miss Black beat Mr. Arthur and Mrs. V. Barker by 75 to 65, and Mr. Matthews -and Miss N. Davis heat Mr. N. Bull and Mrs. Stephenson by 75 to 63. In the. final match Mr. Mann and Miss Black heat Mr. Matthews and Miss N. Davis by-75 to 70. On tlie same courts the first round of the ‘ gentlemen’s singles is now being played off, and entries close to-day for ladies’ handicap singles, for trophies presented to the winner of the v first grade by the club, and to the winner of the second grade by Air. V. Barker.
