A CHRISTCHURCH FIRE.

PUBLIC SCHOOL DESTROYED

CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 6

The Addington State school was totally destroyed by fire at an early hour this morning. Tho school was to have been re-opened on Monday, alter the holidays. It hacl just been repainted and renovated throughout. The fire started in a room in which a now Hour had just been laid. There was nothing to show the origin of the fire. Among the property destroyed was a piano valued at £65; the school lending library, on which £2OO was spent during the last two years; also a number of cases containing valuablenatural history specimens. The workmen’s tools were also burnt. Fortunately, no furniture had been installed. The insurances are not yet available.
