THE TOWNLEY PRESENTATION.
TO BE MADE THIS EVENING
5 During tho interval at the performance of “The Birth of tho Empire” in the Garrison Hall this evening, Mr John Townlcy, 'who for eighteen years occupied the Mayoral chair of Gjs,borno, will be presented with a suit-ably-inscribed piece of silver plate, and an illuminated address. The presentation will be made by the. Chairman of tlie Townloy Presentation Committo (Mr. C. A. doLautouf), r and short addresses will also bo given by His Worship the Mayor (Mr. W. D. Lysnar), the Hon. Captain W. H. Tucker, and Mr. J. W. Bright. The piece of plate, which is on view in Mr \V. Good’s window, is a solid silver rose-bowl weighing 320 ounces. It is 24 inches in diameter and stands on a solid ebony plinth. It is elegant in design, beautifully chased, and is.a fine sample of the silversmith’s art.
