THE SQUATTER’S DAUGHTER

Mr Win. Anderson is sending a company to Gisborne after a long abseifce, and it comes with a reputation and a play that will make it welcome here. “The “Squatter’s Daughter,” it is said, has been to Mr Anderson a perfect Aladdin’s lamp—it has brought him good luck and big houses and splendid “gates” wherever it has appeared. Its story is set in New South Wales, near Bathurst, where the scenery ri 4 ses from the stretching plains and foot hills on Waratah .Station, and climbs into the Blue Mountains, in the rocky fastness of which —surrounding the .Jenolan Caves—are enacted some of its most sensational incidents. The villian is the son of a convict who lias been changed in the cradle for the hero, Tom Bathurst, and it is through his machinations that the hero and his bethrothed. Violet Endorby, are captured by hushrangers and conveyed to the depths of the mountains, and escape after a series of astonishingly exciting exneriences.

The season in Gisborne will commence on Thursday. On Friday “When London Sleeps” will be staged and on Saturday “The Village Blacksmith” will be presented. Seats may be booked at Miller’s without extra charge.
