Captain Hugo, Inspector of Fire Brigades, arrived in Gisborne yesterday. Tho ltight Rev. Dr. Williams,Bishop of Waiapu. arrived in Gisborne by the s.s. Monowai from Napier yesterday. Air L. T. Buj-nard, of Dunedin, who is entering into partnership with Air •J. It. Kirk, arrived from South yesterday morning. • Owing to the resignation of Capt. Canning from the captaincy of the Hawke's Bay Alounted Rifles, the vacancy has been offered to Capt. Colebourne, of Hastings, who was for five, years in command of the East Coast Alounted Rifles. The following telegram has been received bv Mr W. D. S.’ MacDonald, ALP., from Air H. R. Hogg, President of tho Bav of Plenty Railway League:—“Consider Bar of Plenty should support Gisborne-Rotorua connection; believe that* is tho general opinion here. I aim pledged to support connection wiili Rotorua. Am not opposing WaiM-Tauranga, but consider our connection with Rotorua most important.” ; '
