NEW ZEALAND CHAMPION- . SHIPS.

TIMARU, Feb. 11. The New Zealand swimming championships were held in the fresh-water baths to-day, and were largely attended. The feature of the meeting was the breaking of records-in the 220yds breast stroke and in the half-mile. In the 220yds championship It. Healey (Wellington) won in 2min 44sec, by four yards from Champion (Auckland), 2 min 4&sec; Dodge (East Christchurch) being third in 2mm 50 lii'the 220yds breast stroke, Russell (Sydenham), the present holder, won by a yard in. 2min 29sec, beating Truscott’s record of 2min 40 l-ssec. Cook, ser. (East Christchurch), was second, in 3min 10 4-ssec, and Bull (Richmond) third, in 3min 41 1-osec. In the half-mile championship, Healey Avon by .10 yards, and put in a great race. The time ivas 12mm 4o 2-ssec, beating the record by Bull of 13min 26 2-ssec ; Champion Avas second in 12min 51 2-ssec, and Manhire (Addington) third, in .13min 44 3-ssec.
