[Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 12. The cricket match Otago v. Canterbury was commenced here to-day in fine weather. The wicket was in good condition, but a trifle slow at the start. Otago won the toss and sent Canterbury to the wickets. The visitors started badly, and at one stage it looked las if the total would not reach 100, 8 wickets being down for 58 when Orchard and Bennett became associated, but they soon changed the complexion of the game. When Bennett was disposed of for 28 the score stood at 108, and Orchard and Boxshall carried it to 206 before the latter was bowled. Both of these batsmen played freely, Orchard especially giving a fine display. When the total was at 121 Boxshall gave a chance, which was not accepted, and later on a chance off Orchard was missed. When stumps wore drawn Otago'had lost 5. .wickets tor 50. Hopkins >(1G) and Batson (13) being the only batsmen to make a stand. ,
