PRODUCE MARKETS. Messrs. F. S. ' Malcolm and Co., auctioneers, report the following prices' realised at their produce sales on Saturday :—Pullets -and cockerels. 9d to Is 3d; fowls, Is to Is 4d , eggs, fresh Is 7d to Is Bd, pickled Is 3d, butter, lOd, with a short supply; < a ions, id to 1-Jd lb, picklers Lid lb; tomatoes, Id to. lid; cuoumoerv fs doz; cabbages, Is 6d doz; other \< getables at usual prices; peaches, 1 lb; apples, Id to 2d lb; pears, l-ijd lb; plums, Id to lid lb, with a full supply. HORSE SALES. Messrs. Williams and Kettle, Ltd., yarded about 40 horses of various descriptions at their weekly sale on Saturday. There was a poor demand for hacks, moderate sorts selling from £3 to £9 ss, and heavy plough horses from £l4 to £l7. RACEHORSES. Eight racehorses were offered at auction, with the following results: Ch g Lloyds, 4vrs, by Monaco — Zena —Mr. W. Martin, 31 gns. Ch m, 3 years, by Monaco —Mr. W. Martin, IS gns. B g Whakaweira, 5 years, by Pilgrim’s Progress —Espaniola—Mr. J. Parkins, 30 gns. B m, by Monaco —Frolic, full sister to Te Arai —Mr. C. Parker, 14 gns. B m, by Monaco —Frolic, 3 years — Dr. Morrison, 23 gns. B g To Kainui, aged—Mr. B. Steggall, £6O. Spate and Dardanus were passed in, the latter at- 50 gns.

GISBORNE EXPORTS. The following"wore the exports from tho port,, of Gisborne during the month of January :-—ss3ewt of butter valued at £2904. 2953 cwt of beef valued at £3538, 27,-356 carcases of niuiton weighing 14,427 cwt valued at £19,477., 21,946 carcases of lamb valued at £10.946, 312 hides valued at£3l6, 32,401 skins valued at £2973, 85 tons of tallow valued at £l9Bl. AUSTRALIAN POTATO MARKET. United Pbess Association, Copyright SYDNEY, Feb. 13. The failure of some local crops, and the almost certain shortage of the Tasmanian crop, owing to the absence of rain, is causing a hardening tendency in the potato market, and it is anticipated that prices will he dear for the rest of the year.
