"THE VILLAGE BLACKSMITH.”
’ “The Village. Blacksmith,” an exceedingly good melodrama, ivas very successfully (presented by Mr. W. Anderson’s Dramatic Company at His Majesty’s Theatre, to a large audience on Saturday night. To-night being the last- night but one of the season the company will produce the great detective story “The Face at the Window.” This play lias attracted largo audiences in the principal Australian cities. Though to a great, extent weird .and uncanny, the play contains abundant comedy, and possesses an intensely interesting plot. To-morrow night “East Lynne” will conclude a remarkably successful season. “TI-IE BIRTH OF THE EMPIRE.” The fine spectacular carnival “The Birth of the Empire” was successfully reproduced, under the direction of Signor., Borzoni, in the Garrison Hall on Saturday night to -a good audi'ence. It will be repeated to-nighij, and produced for the last time to"morrowy when .Signor Borzoni is .to receive a benefit.
