Owing to the unfavorable weather conditions on Saturday, the matches in the championship competition were postponed for a week. _ AUCKLAND MATCHES. [Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Feb. 14. file first of the second series of rounds of the Auckland Cricket Association’s district championship was concluded yesterday. The weather was very fine, and the wickets good. The batting was the feature of the day, some good scores being made, Robinson, of the University, compiling a century. In the senior grade matches Eden Colts beat City bv an innings and 86 runs. Eden Colts’ first innings realised 202, and City’s 48. Keif took four wickets for 7 Vans, and Beech 4 for 28. In their second innings City made 68 (Neill 25, McCormick 28). Relf took 8 wickets for 11 runs. Parnell defeated Universe. on the first innings by IS2 runs. University’s first innings score, was 65, and "Parnell declared their second inning sclosed with 247 for 7 wickets. University’s second innings occupied the whole afternoon, and realised 327 (Robinson 105, Wallace 90, Gray 26, and Speight 23). North Shore'beat Grafton by 95 runs on the first innings. Grafton made 141 in the first innings and North Shore 236 for wickets (Hadden 62, McMahon 52 Pot out, Prime 36, Philson 35, Spence 20 not out). Mason took 5 wickets for 73. Grafton lost three wickets for 93 before time was called (Gottell 30. Horspool 33 not out). Ponsonby beat Eden A by 59 runs on the first innings. Ponsonby’s first innings realised 192 and Eden A's 133 (Mills 29, Brook-Smith 21, Robinson 31 not out). Ponsonby in the second innings played out time, making 225 for 9 wickets (Ivavanagli 72, McLellan 50, Jacobsen 34). Stephens took 4 wickets for 34 runs. CHRISTCHURCH MATCHES. [Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 13. The seventh round in the first grade cricket competition concluded to-day, in fine weather. In the Limvood v. West Christchurch match, Limvood had scored 346. To-day West Christchurch put up 278 (Norman 101, Hebden 46, Donnelly 34, Read 32). Limvood thus won. on the first innings. St. Albans scored an unexpected victory over East Christchurch by scoring 315. Grawshaw, an ex-High School boy, played a . chanceless innings of 113. East Christchurch’s score was 289. In the Riccarton v. Sydenham match, the last-named, playing two men short, could only score 235 in their first innings, against Riccarton’s first innings score of 439. Sydenham followed on, and made 163 for four wickets. Glag played a magnificent innings of 139, and njade 61 in the second innings. Fowke made 47. Riccarton won on the first innings. OTAGO v. CANTERBURY. [Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Feb. 13. The cricket match Otago v. Canterbury was continued to-day in splendid weather, and on a good .wicket. The homo team, which - lost 5 wickets for 50 yesterday, continued their first inings, hut made a poor stand, the innings closing for 77. Humphreys captured 5 wickets for 36 runs, and Bennett 4 for 15. Canterbury commenced their second innings about noon, and remained at the wickets until a few minutes before six, scoring 259. Reese batted splendidly for 77. as did Anthony for 42, Humphreys for 38, and Sims for 20. The most successful bowlers for Otago were Fisher (3 for 55), Torrance (4 for 90), and Ayles (1 for 1).
