The auxiliary schooner Fairburn returned to this port from Opotiki yesterday morning. She left her loading port on Thursday morning «.t 10 o’clock, and experienced fairly good weather as far as Hick’s Bay. On approaching Te. Araroa the full force of a southerly gale was met with, and she .was compelled to anchor ail day on Friday at To Araroa. Whilst sheltering, a sailing boat passed north, which .was probably the scow Rangi. On Saturday morning the weather moderated a little, and a start was again made, only for the vessel to run into the teeth of a howling southerly buster, and a very anxious time was experienced until she battled her way down to the entrance of the Bay- on .Sunday evening. Even then, owing to the thick weather, the way into the Bav could not be seen, and it was 11 o’clock yesterday- morning before she was able to make her way” to the wharf. Her cargo consisted of 5000 puriri posts for Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. The Tyser liner put out to sea yesterday owing to the rough weather. She will return when the ' weather moderates, and continue her loading. The Shaw. Savill and Albion Co.’s Pakeha is still in the Bay, but has been unable to commence loading owing to the unfavorable weather. The U.S.S. Co.’s AVanaka was expected to leave. Napier at 9 p_.ni. last nidit, and .will arrive here this morning. She leaves again later for Auckland. The U.S.S. Co. s Squall was sheltering at Tologa Bay yesterday, and is due to arrive here this morning. She will return to Auckland to-night. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Co. s Mamari is expected here on Friday next to load frozen moat. . The U.S.S. Co.’s Koromiko is chit here early from Newcastle with 406 tons of coal. ■ , -, The Tvser Co.’s Nerohana is clue to arrive to-day from AVaugamu to ship frozen meat for London. _ The U.S.S. Co.’s Raltanoa is due here next Monday to take a iiill lotiu of sheep for Lyttelton. -mw, to take charge 'lasU trip owing to a serious illness, has now recovered and leaves here tomorrow for Auckland to resume command. He received a wire this moining from AATiangapoua, stating that the scow arrived yesterday, after- a good trip, and all well. She will load timber, and proceed to Auckland. The Sheep farmers’ Frozen Meat Company have been appointed agents at Gisborne of the Maoriland Steamship Company, whose vessels will in future' make regular calls at this port with coal cargoes. sv telegraph.
