SINGULAR STABBING CASE

. A HAMILTON SENSATION. [Press Association.] HAMILTON, Feb. 16. A serious stabbing affray occurred yesterday, it appeal's that last night the police were called in at a house and found a married woman named Lock lying seriously injured with a wound in her abdomen. A doctor was called in, and ordered her removal to the hospital. The husband was in tlie house when the police arrived. Being questioned, he completely denied having committed the deed, saying that about 10 o’clock liis wife was lying outlie couch. Slio complained she nad been ill. She showed her husband the wound, and he immediately went for the doctor. Lock was arrested on suspicion, but maintains his denial of the affair. The wound is thought to have been caused by a, knife, which pierced tlie intestines. The woman s condition is critical. Later. Curious circumstances have occurred in connection with the Lock stabbing case. Mrs. Lock was waited upon; by a Justice of the Peace at the hospital this morning. She refused tomake any depositions regarding the stabbing/ replying, in answer to a question, that she had nothing to say. iSho*"was pressed to say i.f an accident had happened, but steadfastly refused to do so. Lock is a painter by trade, and 33 years of age. Mrs. Lock is about the same age. Neighbors interviewed allege that the couple lived very unhappily, having frequent quarrels'. Lock is said to be a quiet, sober mail; though subject to fits of frenzy. They have been married seven years, and' have six children. Although the. affair took .place between 3 and 4. o’clock, a doctor was not called in tilL--7.30, when the victim’s condition became serious.
