AH ABSURD CHARGE.
THE TYRANNY OF LABOR. (Press Association.) NAPIER, Feb. 'l6. Mr. McCarthy, S.M., gave judgment to-day in the case in which Father Goggan was charged with a breach, of the painters’ award in employing a journeyman, and with failing to have an apprentice indentured. A boy named Connell, employed by Father Goggan in doing odd jobs about the presbytery, had been given painting work which the Union considered infringed the award. The Magistrate ruled that Connell was not an apprentice within the meaning of the award, and dismissed the ease.
