GISBORNE HIGH SCHOOL.

ANNUAL AfFETING. The adjourned annual meeting of the High School 80-ard of Governors was held yesterday afternoon in Air. C. A. deLautour’s office. Present: Messrs C. A. dcLautour (chairman), J.-Nolan, E. H. Ai-ann, J. AV. Bright, and E. Forde Alatthews. The Chairman congratulated Air. Alann on his -return to the Board. He also made reference to tho retirement of Mr. R. Johnson, who, lie said, had done good work for many years, and had been a valuable colleague. It was resolved that the Board record its appreciation of Air. Johnson’s services. Air. Nolan moved that Air. C. A. deLautou-r be re-elected chairman, and in doing so spoke in terms of praise of Ml*. deLautour’s' services. Air. Matthews seconded the motion, which was carried, -and Mr. deLautour briefly returned thanks. Air. W. Morgan was re-appo-inied secretary at -a salary of s£loo, in tho proportion of £75 from the Board and £25 from the Technical School. The -annual report, as published in the “Times” of recent date, and a draft balance-sheet were presented and adopted. ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Board of Governors was then proceeded with, the same members, being present.

Some minor correspondence was read, and several matters in connection with the working of the school were discussed. It was resolved that a nominal feo ho charged pupils for school requisites used. The Chairman and Messrs Nolan and Bright were appointed a Finance. Committee to deal with matters of urgency. A memorandum from the headmaster (Mr. A. R.-Gatland), showing the state of 'attendance at the school was considered highly satisfactory. The secretary of the School Commssionere intimated that there was no objection to thd?,transfer to the Board of the lease of the section at present held by Mr. H, J.
