Mr. Haldane, speaking at New--Tciiitle, declared that Canada would be. easily able to add five or six territorial for licr own defence and the assistance of the JEmpire. The “Times” states that in an emergency Australia might produce five, New Zealand one, and South Africa four or five divisions, which, aided by Britain’s 14 second-line divisions and 16 first-line divisions, would give the Empire the. equivalent of 23 army corps. It adds: “Germany has also 23 army corps.”
