QUEENSLAND AND NEW CALEDONIA. EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. United Press Association. Copyright SYDNEY,. Fob. 22. The crew of the barque Jolietto, wrecked at New Caledonia during a cyclone, have arrived. Details-show that the barque was lying at the wharf -before the storm began. She was pulled out, but drifted back,, and bumped until she was stove, in and foundered, also seriously damaging the wharf. , The crew in the meantime, after being some hours in the, rigging, clambered to the wharf.
The small steamer Poro was totally wrecked, but the crew wore saved. The schooner Gabriella, having about a dozen aboard, is missing. She is supposed to. have been lost. Several other vessels were damaged. An immense tract of country was devastated. BRISBANE, Feb. 22. A cyclone unroofed a number of houses in Thargomindah and Cunnalmilla, and other extensive damage was done. A man named Knowles was struck dead by lightning. ,
